 From the azulejos (painted tiles) that cover buildings in blues and yellows, to Manueline architecture, Portugal’s art is public, practical, and deeply poetic. Even sidewalks are patterned with mosaic stone. 

 From rugged cliffs to vine-covered valleys, Portugal’s natural beauty is breathtaking. Hike in Peneda-Gerês National Park or catch the sunset at Cabo da Roca (Europe’s westernmost point). 

 Rooted in Catholicism, evident in festivals and the reverence for saints like Our Lady of Fátima. The multiple El Camino de Santiago pilgrimage routes end at the Cathedral de Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

  Portuguese rolls off the tongue with a melodic lilt—soft, expressive, and full of saudade (a word for nostalgic longing with no direct English translation).
